HAMPDEN The Hampden-Wilbraham Regional School Committee convened on October 11 with a light agenda.

The Committee went over the district's MCAS results in depth. School Committee Chair Scott Chapman told Reminder Publications that he was pleased with the results.

"I am very pleased with the results of the MCAS for the District. We are most impressed with the high scores at the advanced and proficient levels," said Chapman. "We will continue to use this tool in our curriculum development and work on continuing to make our district's scores remain at these high levels."

Chapman also shared that the district received Cyber Safety Training, and received for the second year in a row a grant of over $100,000 from the Department of Homeland Security to continue with their school safety and prevention initiatives.

"We were one of only two Districts, Brockton being the other, to receive this grant for the second year," added Chapman.

The district also ratified the contracts for the paraprofessionals and clerical staff. According to Chapman, the contracts mirror the teacher's contract including the increased employee contribution towards health insurance in the third year of the contract.
