DPW reminds residents about yard waste drop-off passes

AGAWAM As a reminder, Agawam residents are required to obtain 2005 Yard Waste Drop-Off Passes prior to bringing their yard waste to Bondis Island Landfill off Route 5 in Agawam.

According to DPW officials, the procedure has been developed to combat illegal drop offs from outside residents and landscapers, which is then charged to the city. Each pass will allow Agawam residents one entrance into the facility. The DPW has the right to limit the number of passes allocated per household/per year. The procedure for obtaining passes is as follows:

Obtain yard waste passes at the Department of Public Works office at 36 Main Street (no charge)

A valid drivers license verifying residency is required at the time of pass pick up

Each pass will allow one entrance to the yard waste drop off facility

Upon entering the yard waste facility, the gate keeper will collect the pass from the Agawam resident.

In addition to yard waste drop off, residents will continue to receive curbside yard waste collection. For more information regarding services, call 786-0400 ext. 286.
