AMHERST - Members of the Community Responders for Equity, Safety, and Service (CRESS) team assembled in their Downtown Amherst office Oct. 13. The organization is in its second month of operations as an all-purpose aid team for the people of Amherst, and its members reported very positively regarding CRESS, its mission, and their impact on the community; “I wake up everyday excited to go to work,” said Meikle. CRESS responders have provided support for a wide variety of situations in their first month, from diffusing conflicts on the streets, to helping veterans collect their benefits and families pay their bills, to simply extending an open ear to Amherst residents and engaging in dialogue to create the positive relationships that benefit the individual and the community alike.
