AMHERST – The Inn on Boltwood continues its Holiday Traditions series with its New Year’s festivities. There will be events on both New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day, with custom menus for both.
The Inn’s General Manager Deborah Hermance said that New Year’s Eve dinner will feature a fixed price menu.
“On New Year’s Eve we’re doing a pre-fixed dinner. We’re not doing a gala like some places might; Amherst itself is a little quieter for New Years Eve, but we do have New Year’s Eve fixed-price dinner choice of entre, appetizer and desert. That one is $75, so it goes a little higher end with your proteins and your options,” Hermance said.
New Year’s Day will be somewhat of a surprise; guests will be privy to the specials closer to the day.
“On New Year’s Day, we’ll do our New Year’s Day brunch. [It will be traditional brunch items, plus] some specials. [The New Year’s Day specials] are typically announced the week before. [Our chef] doesn’t really advertise them; you come in and…it’s whatever he gets in fresh that day and whatever our chef decides to create. There will be some traditional stuff to go with the season,” Hermance said.
Both dinners will be served at 30Boltwood, which according to Hermance is “the signature restaurant for Inn on Boltwood.”
Due to the holiday rush, the rate for most rooms is slightly elevated, and prospective guests should book as soon as possible.
“On New Year’s Eve rooms start at $299. There are some special rates starting at $199 on the weekdays surrounding the holiday, but the holiday itself typically is busy so it’s a little bit more…We have limited availability for New Year’s Eve,” Hermance said.
Guests can also make a charitable donation to the Dakin Humane Society while at enjoying their stay at the Inn. The Inn’s Director of Sales Robin Brown explained the charity’s cause and how anyone interested can contribute and get involved.
“The Dakin Humane Society is in Springfield and in Leverett, and it’s an animal shelter that rescues dogs and cats, and they have a program where they spay and neuter. If you go on their website it tells you all about it,” Brown said. “In the last few years we’ve collected donations for them…They take dog food, cat food and any type of toys for the animals…and absolutely monetary donations. We do have a jar behind the front desk [where guests can donate upon request].”
