AMHERST — The Summer Concert Series presented by Friends of the Mount Holyoke Range will resume their Thursday night performances beginning July 6 at Mount Holyoke Range State Park.
The five-week calendar of 7 p.m. performances will begin with original songs from bluegrass/country, blues and barbershop group The Green Sisters.
The concerts take place rain or shine inside the Notch Visitor Center with those attending encouraged to enjoy the music outside from the picnic grove.
Taking the stage on July 13, the musical trio Dear Ella featuring a multi-genre repertoire including swing, R&B and acoustic folk.
Acts performing in the weeks following include the Ed Byrne Sextet, Jeff Barnhart and the Gumbo Jumbo Dixieland Band.
The series has been going on since the late 1980’s inside the Summit House at Skinner State Park said Secretary and Concert Committee Member Gini Traub.
“The building has great acoustics for music, “Traub said. “If you bring a chair and wish to sit outside in the picnic grove, you’re more than welcome to.”
Renovations at the Summit House moved the performances to the Notch Visitor Center last year.
The Friends of the Mount Holyoke Range formed in 1982, coinciding with the Mount Holyoke Range State Park’s inception and the start of the Summit House restoration.
Proceeds from the performances benefit Skinner and Mount Holyoke Range State Parks.
