Art in the Orchard will continue this summer and is seeking artists

Date: 3/2/2021

EASTHAMPTON – Art in the Orchard (AiO) is looking for sculptures and installations for its sixth biennial show.

AiO’21 applications will be accepted through April 1 and are available at www.artintheorchard.org/apply.

This year’s show will feature a total of 30 pieces created by local, regional, and national artists. Accepted applications will receive a $500 honorarium.

The show is an outdoor sculpture exhibit on the property of Park Hill Orchard, 82 Park Hill Road, owned by Russell Braen and Alane Hartley. The exhibit will be open every day from Aug. 1 through Thanksgiving weekend.

The show is free but people are encouraged to give a donation at the beginning of the trial.

Braen said the farm is open from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. but in a prepared statement said the orchard trail is open from dawn to dusk.

“It is amazing. People’s minds seem to open with the art, everyone has a smile on their face,” Braen said.

Braen said that they did not expect AiO to become a biennial when they hosted their first show in 2011. He added that the show seems to be just as strong as their first one, if not stronger.

Braen told Reminder Publishing they estimated that 30,000 people attended the previous show.

Due to the uncertainty related to COVID-19, Braen acknowledged that they have the advantage of being an outdoor exhibit with 50 to 60 acres of land so people will not be close to each other.

Braen shared that people who visit AiO can also go apple picking.
