Dance party aims to bring Easthampton community together

Date: 7/5/2022

EASTHAMPTON – As the heat of summer reaches an apex, a community dance party celebration is set to hit the stage in Easthampton on July 9.

Created by local DJ and promoter Nick Tanguay, the community dance party aims to bring residents from all over Hampshire County together to celebrate somewhat of a return to normalcy after two difficult years amid the coronavirus pandemic.

According to Tanguay, the party will take place on July 9 from 5 to 8 p.m. at Millside Park on 2 Ferry St.

“We’ve been hunkered down for the past two years due to the COVID-19 pandemic,” said Tanguay. “So, I wanted to create a celebration of slowly getting back to our pre-COVID [-19], restriction-free summer. I thought it would be a great idea to celebrate with a dance party, since no one else has come up with the idea.”

Tanguay told Reminder Publishing that the event has been garnering a lot of interest since he first came up with the idea in May. He said he wanted the celebration outdoors and found Millside Park to be the perfect location due to the free parking aspect. “I want free and convenient parking for everybody,” he said.

People should expect “great food, great music and great company,” according to Tanguay, who added that he will be DJing and hosting the event. “We want to get great community involvement back out and about,” he said. The event itself will cost $5 per person. People can either wait to pay when they get there or Venmo Tanguay at @DJNickT.

If enough people attend, according to Tanguay, then he might host another one at the end of the summer in August, but that is still up in the air. The rain date is July 10.
