EASTHAMPTON – After experiencing heavy damage from an overnight fire in August, Easthampton staple Tavern on the Hill is planning on reopening the week of Dec. 12.
“We are all very excited to be getting close to reopening,” said Amy Guyette, owner and manager of Tavern on the Hill. “We are pushing hard to be ready to welcome everyone back to the Tavern.”
The barbecue restaurant on the shoulder of Mt. Tom has been closed since Aug. 12 when a passing motorist reported a fire late that night.
The fire caused several hundred thousand dollars in structural damage to the restaurant’s outdoor deck and an external wall and support frames. The entire interior was ruled to be cleaned our due to smoke damage. The fire was considered accidental and originated on the outside deck near a meat smoker.
Guyette told Reminder Publishing that, as of press time, they are cleared to reopen for the week of Dec. 12.
“We still have flooring that needs to be installed, the décor needs to be put back up on the walls, everything needs to be dusted and polished up,” the restaurant said in a social media post in early December. “Inspections need to happen then the kitchen staff can begin getting things prepped and ready to go.”
In the meantime, people can order holiday gift cards from the restaurant on their website: https://www.tavernonline.com/. Guyette said they will keep everyone updated on their social media.
