WESTHAMPTON – Nothing says summer more than a slice of delicious blueberry pie baked fresh from the oven. This American classic will be just one of many blueberry treats on the menu during The Westhampton Congregational United Church of Christ’s annual Blueberry Festival on July 23 at 5 p.m.
The purpose of the Blueberry Festival is to raise money for the church’s women’s fellowship, and all the funds raised go back to the church, explained Shirley Raymond, co-chair of the event. She noted that from the funds raised two years ago, they were able to purchase new dining room tables for the church, and last year they raised $1,400 and are on target to reach that same goal or beyond this time around.
As for the festival, guests can look forward to a menu that will include homemade Virginia baked ham with pineapple slices, potato salad, sliced cucumbers, green beans, blueberry muffins, blueberry pie, and assorted beverages.
The price is $15 for adults and $6 for children 12 years of age and younger. Those interested in attending must make a reservation for the one-time sitting by contacting Lynne Sallee at 584-9360 or lynnesallee@comcast.net. The reservation deadline is July 20.
