MONTGOMERY – The town election saw 148 registered voters at the polls on May 2. Incumbent Donald E. Washburn defeated challenger Daniel Jacques, 92 to 55 votes, and will serve another three-year term on the Montgomery Board of Selectmen, in the only contested election.
Also elected were Steven D. Pierce, who received 129 votes for moderator; incumbent Cheryl Masciadrelli for town clerk with 141 votes; incumbent Timothy Baker on the Board of Assessors with 110 votes; incumbent Daniel C. Flechsig for constable with 129 votes; and incumbent Julie Pike as trustee of the A.P. Pettis Fund with 129 votes.
Karen Chaffee received 14 write-in votes as library trustee, and accepted the position. The next top vote-getter received two votes. Scott Darling also accepted the position of tree warden with three votes, after Phil Camp, who received 11 votes, and Curtis Bush, who also received three votes, both declined the position.
Masciadrelli said town officials are hoping for a large turnout to the Town Meeting at 7 p.m. on May 16 in Town Hall, 161 Main Rd., Montgomery.
