Several vacant seats on Huntington’s May 21 election ballot

HUNTINGTON – Five positions on the town election ballot will be vacant as Huntington polls are open 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on May 21 at Stanton Hall.

There are no listed candidates for a two-year term on the Board of Health; a one-year term as moderator; a one-year term as tree warden; and three-year terms as Alphonso Pettis Fund trustee and Whiting Street Fund trustee.

Elsewhere on the ballot, several incumbents are running unopposed for re-election. These include Selectboard member Roger Booth; Board of Assessors member Edward Renauld; Board of Health member Kathleen Peterson; Constable James Helems; Gateway Regional School Committee representative PeggyAnn Dragon-Blumenthal; Huntington Library Trustee Laurie Mikalunas; and Water-Sewer Commissioner Sue Fopiano. All are for three-year terms.

According to a notice posted by the town clerk at Town Hall, George Peterson III has agreed to serve on the Board of Health and as moderator if elected via write-in. Alicia Hackerson will be a write-in candidate for the Alphonso Pettis Fund. James Arnold will be a write-in candidate for the Whiting Street Fund. No active candidate is listed for tree warden.

Write-in candidates must have been an active registered voter in the town for at least nine months before Jan. 1 in order to be elected.
