WILBRAHAM – In 1935, during the Great Depression, Friendly’s was founded by the Blake brothers, Prestley and Curtis. At the time of the restaurants opening, according to mentalfloss.com, the brothers sold two-scoop cones at five cents a piece. Now, 82 years after the company’s humble beginnings, Friendly’s will be rolling out “Friendlyer Prices” in 15 locations, including Wilbraham, Springfield, East Longmeadow, West Springfield, and Chicopee.
“The idea behind Friendly’s new pricing is to provide diners with an everyday value, while at the same time, continuing to bring the restaurant back to its core.
As a part of the “Friendlyer Prices” experience, Friendly’s is offering the same menu options with better prices in an effort to create a value-driven dining experience. Moreover, the company is making 20 different meal options available for only $5.55. All items on the Friendly’s menu will now be under $8.
“Our goal is provide our guests with a value-driven and friendly dining experience," said CEO and President John Maguire. “Many restaurant brands have promotions on single items, but with our new initiative, we will pair our friendly service with better value on every menu item.”
In 2011 Maguire was hired to revamp the Friendly’s company with bigger portion sizes, new décor, a focus on customer service and a myriad of other changes. These changes, not only went along with the company’s need to regain economic stability but was a way to get back to the company’s roots.
“We’re excited to offer the same great products at even friendlier prices,” Maguire said.
Locations that will be featuring friendlier prices include 19 Springfield St. in Agawam, 562 North Main St. in East Longmeadow, 1519 North Main St. in Palmer, 431 East Main St. in Westfield, 489 Newton St. in South Hadley, 1745 Northampton St. in Holyoke, 471 Center St. in Ludlow, 65 Sumner Ave. in Springfield, 200 Mohawk Trail in Greenfield, 529 Memorial Dr. in Chicopee, 1818 Boston Rd. in Wilbraham, 1094 Riverdale Rd. in West Springfield, 21 Southampton?Rd. in Westfield, 455 Russell St. in Hadley, and 54-56 Main St. in Florence.
