Snap Fitness introduces Micoachee to the area

HAMPDEN – Each New Year brings with it New Years resolutions for those looking to make a change in their life. Every year the top five documented New Years resolutions are all health related and involve turning over a new leaf to start a healthy lifestyle, whether that’s starting a diet, joining a gym, or cutting out any unhealthy habits. For all of the New Years resolutions made, reportedly, only 75 percent of people make it past the first week of their resolution and 60 percent make it past the first month. Why do people struggle to hold on to their resolutions, especially the ones that are health focused? Innovators   Jamie Reloj and Tom Mann have developed a new kind of diet/fitness plan, called Micoachee, which could improve the way people view weight loss and potentially keeping their new years resolutions.

Micoachee is a psychological tool for people that find it hard to stay committed or focused on a diet or workout plan. Snap Fitness in Hampden was one of the first local fitness centers to sign up.

“It’s a great tool. Micoachee helps us work on member’s individual behavior challenges. It is personalized, and the interactive support system gives members the accountability they need for success and the confidence, and motivation to overcome mental hurdles in meeting exercise and diet goals for life, not just for some period” said Jackie Evans the head personal trainer at Snap Fitness.

Reloj created the idea of Micoachee after observing people using fitness trackers such as Fit bits or Apple watches but not seeing the results they were expecting. This inspired Reloj to create a platform that takes the information from the fitness trackers or apps and feedback from the users to generate feedback and advice that acts more on the behavioral change science to help the users reach their goals rather than advising more carb cuts or a longer workouts.

Reloj and his team of experts put the data to use by providing clients with online and mobile access to cognitive behavioral therapy techniques that are unique and help with mindful practices.

Reloj describes Micoachee, “Unlike fads or gimmicks that provide the same solution for every user, Micoachee uses your unique data and feedback to create a digital coaching program that is specific to each person, able to help you overcome your biggest health and weight loss struggles and change the habits and behaviors holding you back.” This is a completely new idea compared to any work out plan out there. There is no gym training, no counting calories or dieting. It’s completely physiological to help clients reach their goals in an easier way without being told exactly what to do.”

The application has already shown what a positive effect it can have on clients. A recent study was done at a YMCA that showed of their members using Micoachee, 85 percent achieved their increased activity goals, there was a 300 percent increase in how frequently they visited the gym, 100 percent of people saw weight loss results and many participants started signing up for classes the YMCA offered that they never tried before to expand their knowledge and workout ability.
