Wilbraham Board of Selectmen receives outstanding liquor license updates

Date: 11/3/2021

WILBRAHAM - The Wilbraham Board of Selectmen considered two outstanding liquor license matters at its meeting on Nov. 1.

Attorney Larry Levine, addressed the board representing Pinky Krishna, the owner of Wilbraham Liquors, 2771 Boston Rd. Levine presented the necessary license transfer paperwork after an earlier mistake was discovered.

The second issue was slightly more complicated. The Country Club of Wilbraham has been in the process of changing catering services and the related liquor license for nearly a year. The new service, 3 Guys Catering, received an incorrect account number from the state and is in the process of remedying the situation, said Dave Nicoll, representing the country club. At that point, the country club will transfer the liquor license to 3 Guys Catering.

Nicoll asked to renew the liquor license with the current information so the business can keep its doors open, but Board of Selectmen Chair Bob Boilard explained that the manager of record is out of date and cannot be renewed until the transfer is final. Boilard asked for weekly updates from the country club.

The Senior Citizen Volunteer Service & Tax Abatement program was approved for $25,500. The program abates a portion of a senior citizen’s property taxes in exchange for them volunteering for the town. Board of Selectmen Clerk Terry Goodrich asked if the program was popular and used by seniors. Boilard and Town Administrator Nick Breault told her that all of the program’s volunteer positions were filled each year.

Breault told the board that he planned to ask the town departments to keep their Fiscal Year 2023 budget requests to no more than a 1 percent increase over FY22 in an effort to craft a conservative town budget.

The board will sign a letter supporting state legislation to address crumbling foundations at its next meeting on Nov. 9.
