Approves funding plan

Date: 2/27/2013

Mr. Dobbs misses the point by supporting repeal of the requirement that the Post Office forward fund its pensions. Instead he should be proposing a requirement that all federal, state, and local governments forward fund an actuarially based amount of their pensions annually.

This is what all private businesses, which he wants the Post Office to compete against, are required to do.

The present system allows our elected representatives to offer pension benefits that will not show up on budgets until they are long out of office.

In many cases, these are their own pensions as well. The funding of these pensions is unfairly passed along to future generations. Requiring current budgeting of future pension obligations will provide a needed check and balance into our current broken system.
