Happy holidays?

Is wishing others "Happy Holidays" at this time of year just being politically correct? There are at least five major holidays being celebrated this December 2012: Chanukah (Jewish) .Yule (Wicca) , Kwanzaa (African), Eid al Adha (Muslim), and Christmas (Christians).
When looking at the constantly changing demographics in the greater Springfield area, "Happy Holidays" seems to be very appropriate regardless of your religion or belief.

But not everyone is happy or merry this year. Last month was a time for giving thanks This month has become a time sorrow and prayer for the families and the victims of yet another senseless crime. The events of Friday Dec. 14 in Connecticut make it difficult to offer exchanges knowing this will be anything but happy or merry for many of Newtown's families and everyone else in mourning.
Tiny Tim would probably have said it best. No happy, no merry, just "… bless them, every one." James Raschilla
