Is it time for Charter reform?

Date: 11/6/2013

East Longmeadow is a vibrant, rapidly-growing New England town that is busting at the seams.

The town is, in reality, a $55 million corporation with hundreds of employees. Presently, we have part-time elected officials who try their best to solve issues brought before them on a daily basis.

It seems overwhelming at best, and inefficient and slow moving at worst. Is our current form of local government able to serve the many needs of the townspeople? I believe it is time for a new Charter Review Committee.

The committee does not have to reinvent the wheel. It could study the previous Charter studies buried deep in the Town Hall archives. Make your thoughts known.
