I urge you to go and experience the sights and sounds and smells of a gas facility. Go to the Eversource/Tennessee Gas Pipeline facility on Shaker Road just south of Pease Road in East Longmeadow. You will see a small brick building surrounded by chain-link fencing, but there is more. Make sure to take the time to walk around the perimeter. Even on a windy day, there was some noise and smell from the Eversource building. The TGP building, with machinery surrounding it, was unsightly and very noisy with a strong gas smell. Please, go and see for yourselves.
Now, think, if this is the experience from two buildings, what will the sights and sounds and smell be like if the proposed five buildings proposed in Longmeadow are approved? The East Longmeadow facility is in an open area. The far larger proposed complex would be in a thickly-settled residential area. This complex would be surrounded by homes and less than a third of a mile away from an elementary building.
