Hug A Cold. Kiss A Fever.

Date: 1/15/2007

You can't turn on the TV for more than 10 minutes without expecting to have the latest drug (which fixes the latest ailment) literally jammed down your throat. Everywhere you turn there's a new pill to make our lives all better.

Whatever happened to Mom's advice...feed a cold and starve a fever? Or was it starve a cold and feed a fever. I never could get it straight. (Especially after I was blessed with my Italian mother-in-law's approach which is to feed a cold and feed a fever!)

The problem is that in today's quick-fix society, many people take the advice of these TV doctors rather than trying to figure out why they aren't

feeling well in the first place.

Think about it. I bet there is many an upset stomach that could be fixed with a good old-fashioned hug from a spouse or loved one. And, imagine

trying to think about a headache while you're receiving a nice, romantic kiss from your significant other.

Now don't get me wrong. I know that certain problems need real, live drugs to handle them. But, many of today's pill poppers do so because they either haven't tried or have given up on the more down-to-earth approach that a good relationship with a real, live human being has to offer.

So, next time you're feeling a little down, grab a friend and start kissing.
