Date: 1/8/2015

DANBURY, Conn. – Southern Connecticut State women’s soccer senior defender Sarah Brochu of Wilbraham was named the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Co-Defensive Player of the Year.

She was also named an ECAC First Team All-Star. This is the second player of the year award Brochu has received for this season, as she was previously named the Northeast-10 (NE-10) Conference’s Defensive Player of the Year.

This is the latest in a series of honors for Brochu this season, who was previously named All-New England by the New England Women’s Intercollegiate Soccer Association.

She was also selected to the Daktronics/Division II Conference Commissioner's Association All-America and All-Region teams, and is a NEWISA Senior Bowl selection.

In December, she was tabbed an All-Region selection by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America, as voted on by the region's coaches.

For her work in the classroom, she was named Academic All-Region by the NSCAA.

In addition, she was named the Northeast-10 Conference Defensive Player of the Year, First-Team All-Region and First-Team All-Conference earlier this fall. Brochu anchored an Owls' defense that merited just 0.90 goals per game and finished 11-6-2 en route to the ECAC Tournament title.
