| The second annual Chuck Lelas Memorial Scholarship Fund 10K Run/Walk will be held on May 14 at Forest Park in Springfield. The event in is in memory of Chuck Lelas who died of a heart attack in September, 2003. Lelas, a West Springfield High School guidance counselor, was also a dedicated coach and lover of sports. He coached high school baseball and basketball and college baseball and emphasizd to his players the importance of being a good, person, then a good student, and then a good athlete. The 10K run/walk was started last year as a way to raise money and sponsor an event that promotes health and staying fit. The 2004 walk raised enough money to award six $1,000 scholarships to local student-athletes. For more information on the 2005 Chuck Lelas Memorial 10K Run/Walk please visits www.lelas.org.
