Alzheimer's Presentation
JGS to provide a special presentation about Alzheimer's
Jewish Geriatric Services (JGS) will host a special presentation designed to provide the families and caregivers of those living with Alzheimer's disease with important information regarding the illness.
The presentation, entitled "Alzheimer's Disease: The Facts and the Future," will be held on Sept. 12, at 6:30 p.m. at the Julian J. Leavitt Family Jewish Nursing Home, 770 Converse Street in Longmeadow, MA. The event will feature guest speaker Mitchell Clionsky, Ph.D., ABPP(CN) of Neuro-Psychology Associates of Western Massachusetts and co-founder of the MVA Center for Rehabilitation, both located in Springfield, MA. The presentation is part of the 2006 JGS Institute series, the community education initiative of JGS that offers health and wellness programs to adults of all ages.
"Alzheimer's Disease: The Facts and the Future" is targeted to those caring for someone with Alzheimer's disease and those with a loved one living with the illness. During the program, Dr. Clionsky will be providing an overview of Alzheimer's disease and other types of dementia, discussing how these types of illnesses are diagnosed, and taking a look at both current treatments, as well as those on the horizon. Dr. Clionsky is a Board Certified Clinical Neuropsychologist through the American Board of Clinical Neuropsychology and the American Board of Professional Psychology (ABPP-CN). He serves as the Director of Neuro-Psychology Associates of Western Massachusetts, as well as President and Director of the ADD Center of Western Massachusetts and the Executive Director and Chief Operating Officer of the MVA Center for Rehabilitation.
