Hospice Life Care accepting applications for fall program
Hospice Life Care, a program of the Holyoke VNA, is taking applications for a Fall volunteer training program.
Hospice volunteers visit with patients in the home and in nursing homes in Hampden and Hampshire County and typically spend 1-3 hours per week with their patients. No previous training is necessary, but volunteers must enjoy all kinds of people, be a good listener and exhibit flexibility, caring and compassion. Interested individuals will attend our comprehensive training program and will receive ongoing support and education throughout the volunteer experience.
Hospice is also seeking individuals with licensed therapy pets and professionals trained in Massage Therapy, Reiki and Music Therapy. These techniques are well received by our patients and can bring added peace and comfort to the patient and caregivers.
Our next training will run every Tuesday and Thursday evening from October 2 to Nov. 1 from 6:30 to 9pm at the VNA and Hospice offices at 113 Hampden St. in Holyoke. For an application, contact Leslie Hennessey, Volunteer Coordinator at 322-1281. Applications must be received by Sept. 28.
