Road to Recovery seeks volunteer driversDate: 9/4/2015 HOLYOKE – The American Cancer Society’s Road to Recovery program is in critical need of volunteers from Hampden County to drive local cancer patients to and from their chemotherapy and/or radiation.
An integral part of treating cancer successfully is making sure patients receive their treatments, but many find making transportation arrangements is a challenge.
Road to Recovery provided more than 8,000 rides – free of charge – to cancer patients in Massachusetts last year, but needs new volunteer drivers to keep up with the demand for transportation.
Volunteers use their own vehicle and set their own schedule. Treatment appointments take place weekdays, primarily during business hours.
If you or someone you know is interested in becoming a volunteer driver for Road to Recovery, please contact Michele Dilley from the American Cancer Society at 508-270-4644 or Michele.dilley@cancer.org.
