Shriners Hospitals thanks Smith & Wesson for supportDate: 7/28/2016 LUDLOW – Shriners Hospitals for Children announced that it recently presented Smith & Wesson with its Benefactor Crystal recognition award. On hand to receive the award, which was presented at the Springfield Shriners Hospital Board of Governors meeting, were Mark P. Smith, President of Smith & Wesson’s Manufacturing Services Division and Elaine Stellato, Community Relations Manager for Smith & Wesson.
To date, Smith & Wesson has donated over $204,000 to the Springfield Shriners Hospital. These generous funds were raised by Smith & Wesson employees who participated in a number of activities and company sponsored events throughout the year, such as the St. Patrick’s Day Road Race and the Annual Leprechaun Plunge. Funds that benefited both the Shriners Hospital and the Ronald McDonald House were also raised a Comedy Night, an annual fundraiser that has been hosted by Smith & Wesson and its employees for the past five years.
Smith & Wesson has been the Presenting Lead Sponsor for the Shriners Hospital for Children’s annual Love to the Rescue Radiothon held each October. The company recently announced that it will support the Radiothon again, with a $15,000 sponsorship in 2016.
Mark Smith said, “At Smith & Wesson we are proud to support organizations that strive to improve upon the health and wellness of our community and its families and we encourage other companies in our community to do the same. We are honored to have the opportunity to work with organizations like the Shriners Hospital for Children and we applaud their ongoing commitment to pediatric specialty care. They are a vital resource to our community and the families they support.”
Lee Kirk, hospital administrator for Shriners Hospitals for Children, said, “We are grateful for the ongoing support and friendship of the Smith & Wesson leadership team and staff. They have truly helped increase donations to our Radiothon by encouraging community support with matching gift hours during the two-day event. It is corporate partnerships such as Smith & Wesson’s that enable us to fulfill our mission of providing pediatric specialty care to children, regardless of a family’s ability to pay. We extend our thanks to everyone at Smith & Wesson for helping us transform the lives of children.”
